Raising children without punishment and reward
What do children need from us to grow into self-aware adults in the longer term? Undoubtedly connectedness and warmth, but also control. How can we be directive authorities without being authoritarian? It seems like a paradox, but it isn’t. Raising children without punishment and reward is possible. Believe me. In this course we learn in an interactive and educational way how to balance discipline and a good relationship with our children.

The development of your child from infancy to adolescence
I have been teaching developmental psychology to students for years. The course for parents consists of 3 evenings. In week 1 we get to know each other. This week is all about the different perspectives on development. How does your child’s behavior develop? What do psychodynamicists like Freud and Erikson, the behaviorists like Skinner and Watson, but also other influential developmental psychologists like Piaget, Vygotsky and Bronfenbrenner think about the development of children? After this evening you can view your child’s behavior from different perspectives. Your repertoire for understanding children’s behavior is now much more extensive than before!
Week 2 focuses on the development of the baby and toddlers/preschoolers. In week 3, school age and adolescence is discussed. Each week we focus on the physical development, social-emotional development and cognitive development that a child goes through. We start interactively every week! With attention to individual questions and comments about the relevant developmental phase. Not only the beginning is interactive, but the entire evening! It’s fun, connecting and educational!
Your investment for this course that will help you understand your child better and be more connected with your child is 50 euros. If after three weeks you still have questions about how to take your parenting to an even higher level, don’t worry! Afterwards, each participant will have the opportunity for an online 1-on-1 conversation of 50 minutes worth of 80 euros. This conversation is included in the price of the course.
The course takes place online in february 2024 on Monday evenings from 19:30 to 21:30.
Min number of Participants is 3 and the maximum number of participants is 8. The language is Dutch. If there are at least 3 English speaking parents that are interested, i will me more then willing to give the course in English.
