Parent Support & Empowerment
It is quite normal as a parent to be uncertain sometimes of how to act to your child. In how far is the behavior of your child normal? The behavior of a child is almost always subject to the behavior of the parent and the dynamics within the family. I often work with parents and quickly see that dark clouds make room for clear skies. Do you need a mirror so you can take the next step in parenting?

The connected family
My experience is that many behavioral problems in children are solved if family members connect more consciously with each other. I am happy to help you find out where the opportunities lie. Perhaps you as a family would like to set up a family meeting to experience more connection? What a great plan! You will have no regrets! If desired, I train you in setting up family meetings.
COping with sadness and Negative thoughts
Children and adolescents can experience feelings of sadness due to a variety of factors. Sometimes they have distorted thinking patterns. These thinking patterns can be transformed into helpful thoughts with the help of cognitive behavioral therapy. Sometimes the cause of the depression (also) lies in family functioning or in other systems such as the school. Involving the family members and a systemic approach (with the consent of the young person, of course) is the next step.

Coping with Obsessive thoughts and compulsions
Obsessive thoughts and compulsions can have a huge impact on your child’s life. It is also often a heavy burden for family members. I have good news! It is treatable. See also the experiences of one of my former clients.
Coping with grief and Loss
Grief and loss experiences affect children in their core. Separation anxiety in children with loss experiences is very normal. In addition to children, parents are also affected. Besides coping with their own suffering, they also feel a sense of responsibility for their children. They want to make the loss bearable and restore normal life for their children. In general, this works out very well for parents. However, some parents and children need some help.
I have both theoretical knowledge from the lectures Grief and Loss that I have taught and practical experience in guiding expat clients with grief and loss experiences. I would like to think together with you to make the loss more bearable for you as a family.

Coping with Fears and anxiety
Anxiety is a normal part of childhood. Childhood fears such as fear of the dark or fear of certain animals are very common and most children grow out of them on their own. However, when fear starts to hinder the daily functioning of your child, this can be called deviant. In addition to treating separation anxiety disorder, I can also help your child cope better with specific phobias and performance anxiety.
Having fun at school
If children no longer enjoy school, this can be due to several reasons. Is there social anxiety? Is the child being bullied? Is the child experiencing a depressive state due to changes within the family dynamics? Is there fear of failure or performance anxiety? Contextual research is often needed to find out what is going on. I like to do research to find out why your child is not enjoying school. After the research, I provide feedback on my findings and we determine together how we will work on (re)discovering the fun and pleasure in school.
